Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Collins is a Mexican American journalist. She currently works as a sportscaster for ESPN and is anchor for SportsCenter news and hosting SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN as a news anchor in 2016. Her mother is Maria Antonieta Collins, a TV reporter. Antonietta is native to two languages. From the age of nine years old, her ability to communicate in two languages helped her get an employment in Miami as a production assistant at Univision. Fabio Fajardo passed away in 2006 from kidney cancer. She stayed at Canton Ohio with her older sister during the summer and was offered the opportunity of a job. Still a senior in high school and yet having a clear vision of what she wanted to do with her life Antonietta was able to visit the University of Mount Union to examine if it was a good fit for her preferences. At the end of the day she fell in love with the campus. They also offered her a the opportunity to study a major. When she completed her high school education she enrolled in the University to pursue media studies. Mark Bergmann, her professor who also managed the WRMU's 91.1FM station where she worked for many years, became an acquaintance. Her professor, Mark Bergmann, inspired her by his passion for journalism. He also deeply impacted her.
